What People Say About our Concerts

Thank you for the outstanding performance!  People are still talking about it!  Words cannot effectively describe the joy and high musicianship we experienced with the concert by The Copper Street Brass.  The program had ultimate variety and musicality, and was enjoyed by all who attended.

What People Say About our Concerts

Beyond good stage presence and an engaging rapport with the audience, this group is seriously good. The ensemble is tight, and pitch-perfect. Everyone blends well, and it is clear the musicians enjoy playing together.

From a Concert Review by John Shearer, New Mexico State University

What People Say About our Concerts

The CSB can do it all. From in your face Tower of Power-style aggressive brass virtuosity to subtle symphonic nuance, The CSB delivers.

American Bandstand

Bring your dancin’ shoes! CSB pays homage to American Bandstand, the legendary TV show hosted by Dick Clark that ran from 1956 to 1989!

We’ll explore iconic, toe-tappin’ music of American pop and rock ‘n roll musicians, from the bands who found their big break to the artists who appeared time after time and defined generations with their music. Encompassing four decades worth of dances, performances, fashions, and fads, American Bandstand served as a musical and social time capsule - so join us for a variety of great pop music and lots of fun!

British Invasion

Join Copper Street Brass in a brassy tribute concert to the British Invasion (and beyond) at this FREE outdoor concert! We’ll pay homage to the music of bands from the British Invasion years of the mid-1960s and explore the legacies of artists who came before and after.

In typical Copper Street fashion, we’ll put a twist on the concert theme by also exploring classical and romantic music from British composers, performing traditional and folk music from the British Isles, and having fun with a few surprise musical selections too. Even though there’s no ticket necessary, you’ll still be getting your “ticket to ride” when we celebrate great music from across the pond!

Summer Concert Series: Event Details

Updates will be posted on our Facebook Page in advance of each show rain or shine. Concerts will not be rescheduled in the event of a cancellation.

COVID-19 Safety Information (6/228/21)

In order for us to continue to produce live performances we ask that all attendees of the CSB Summer Concert Series adhere to “Minnesota’s Stay Safe Plan” for outdoor performances. Masks are no longer required to use the restrooms at both locations for fully vaccinated people, please wear your mask if you are not fully vaccinated. Regulations are changing frequently and we will update our safety protocols as situations evolve for the state and cities of Minneapolis and Maplewood. More information can be found here: MN Stay Safe Plan. Thank you for your cooperation!

What To Expect

We’re thrilled to offer six different one-hour concert programs for free this summer! Join us every-other Thursday beginning June 3rd in Minneapolis or Maplewood to enjoy music and community with Copper Street Brass. Each concert begins at 7:00 PM and goes until about 8:00 PM and is designed for all ages.

Please note that performances are weather dependent and we’ll post on our Facebook Page regarding the status of every show. There are no “rain dates”; if a concert is cancelled because of the weather we hope you’ll join us at the next show.

Each performance will be staged from a performance area in the parking lot at each location. CSB will have our PA system for sound amplification. The audience area will be spread out in front of the performance area on the blacktop. Shade is minimal at each location (see what to bring) and guests must bring their own chairs for seating.

Every performance is offered completely free of charge but we will ask for donations as you are able. Donations will be accepted via credit card through our mobile donation website or cash/check at the performance. Thanks in advance for supporting our free offerings in our community!

CSB will have our merchandise table and wonderful volunteers on site for the purchase of CDs, Download Cards, t-shirts and other CSB items.

Path of Grace is offering refreshments for purchase (note this is subject to change).

Parking and Seating

Parking lots at each location open at 6:30 PM (if you arrive early you’ll likely be listening to our sound check from your car). Please park the farthest away you can from the performance “stage” to allow plenty of room for everyone to sit with social distancing, or if you’d like you may also remain in your car with the windows down (but please park away from the performance space).

Your best bet for seating is to fill in close to the "stage". The sound will be the best (it won't be too loud we promise) and if you arrive early it helps leave space for others to fill in behind you.

What to Bring

There will be no chairs/seating provided so please bring your own folding chairs. You’ll be sitting in a parking lot on pavement so you probably won’t want to sit on the ground.

Shade is limited at both venues so bring hats, sunscreen or an umbrella to stay comfortable on hot days. Bug spray might also be a good idea...it is summer in Minnesota and at Path of Grace there are likely to be a few bugs.

You’re welcome to bring your own beverages and food and make a picnic out of it! Path of Grace will also be offering refreshments for purchase. Please note that alcohol is not allowed at either location.

Restroom Use

Indoor restrooms are available for public use during Copper Street summer performances at both locations. Masks are no longer required indoors for fully vaccinated people. If you are not yet vaccinated you must wear your mask indoors.

  • Hennepin Ave United Methodist: enter double doors on the east side of the church. Use the hand sanitizer in the entryway and check in with the receptionist at the front desk to access restrooms.

  • Path of Grace: enter side doors of the church and use hand sanitizer prior to accessing restrooms.

If you have any questions about accessing the restrooms during the performance, you can ask any of our on site volunteers and they would be happy to assist you.
